Skyview … While On Silent Safari Urban Image Exploration

Skyview while on Silent Safari urban image exploration.

Atlanta traffic never stops … sometimes you have to capture your image, with the one-handed over the roof technique, at 30 mph. Fortunately, I was not the one driving, as that would not only be unsafe, but beware of the new changes in driving distractions laws, that would also make that illegal.

Urban imagery provides both challenging and unique opportunities. Remember to take a new look at scenery perspective … angles you couldn’t get with the traditional tripod shot can capture the unexpected. Light, movement, contrast , and intrigue, all available in 360 when you take a new look around.

Revisit the much traveled, less considered pathways. There’s imagery lurking about.

Gathering Sunshine … Silent Safari Style

Adjacent to the She Shed, in the midst of the garden near a contrast gradient of light and dark, cool and warmth, bright color and neutral green, sits a butterfly on safari. It is the hunter of just the right color combination containing just the proper mixture of nectar and nutrition. A feast for the senses completes the mission … not the edge of the party, but the very center of attention.

A wisp of bird sounds and tree breezes accompanies the nectar hunter, while the sunlight feeds the hungry cells in it’s wings. The complete package … mission accomplished.

Just as the butterfly is compelled … we are compelled to enjoy and appreciate it’s contribution to the ambientscape around us.

Wolf Winds Natural Inspiration

CABIN … WOLF WINDS

How and Why. The why is because remote cabins must connect with nature, being your personal getaway. And, the best way to achieve this is with identifying, if only in spirit, with an animal that both fascinates you and entertains you. A pack of wolves, a brother and sisterhood that dominates their territory, relying only on their skill and wit to survive. The very idea of this removal from the man made world is stimulating.

So, how to bring this energy into your cabin … elements that replicate the essence of the animal. Texture, color, mood and most of all, earthiness. In the above photo, the stone is carnelian with sterling silver, the rock is a huge quartz. Notice in the board Wolf Winds how the color of the gemstone is in sync with the colors I’ve chosen for the cabin, and the rock of coarse, a natural quartz boulder, the perfect textural background. It is also the color of the alpha white wolf.

Now, think wolf for the rest of your furnishings. Faux fur ( a must for me) is tactile, touchable, and warm. Surprises of color, like the toile dishes reminds you of another time in history … a trick for time travel to place you away from modern technology. Every item is chosen with intent to enhance your quality time in your special cabin.

Enjoy,

Unique Interior Design … Silent Safari Style

Lately I’ve been working on cabins … Silent Safari Style. What that means is nature inspired interiors, in this case, for the Wolf Winds Cabin. Imagine hearing the sounds of the wolves howls … their language. Breathe their air, associate with the pack. What textures are in their environment, colors, scents, objects? An artist might say, “become the wolf, then paint the animal.” When I design for my clients, I place them in an environment that removes the sterile world and immerses them in the world they hired me to create.

The piece featured in this photo is a hand carved wolf from the early nineteen hundreds.

Whatever nature inspiration you desire for your own cabin, surround yourself with elements that put you in touch with your ideal getaway.

Happy treasure hunting …
